Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said the recently inaugurated Perumbalam bridge in Alappuzha, whose construction began in 2016 and completed in 2026, provides a long-awaited connection for residents of the island to the mainland. The minister also cited the reconstruction of Alappuzha–Changanassery Road, which previously used to be submerged during heavy rains as the govt's achievement. Another major initiative highlighted was the construction of a tetrapod sea wall in Chellanam, which helped protect coastal homes from severe flooding during the monsoon season.
