Credai Kerala pitches to host NATCON 2026 in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (Credai) has decided to shift its flagship national convention, NATCON 2026, from Amsterdam in Netherlands, to India following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to reduce non-essential foreign travel and conserve foreign exchange amid the evolving geopolitical situation in Middle East.Speaking about the development, S N Raghuchandran Nair said Credai Kerala is now actively pitching to bring the prestigious national convention to Thiruvananthapuram. According to him, the decision to cancel the Amsterdam event was taken in line with the Prime Minister's appeal to prioritise domestic spending and support the Indian economy. Nair said the convention, scheduled for Aug this year, is expected to draw more than 1,000 leading developers, investors, architects, consultants, policymakers and other stakeholders from across the country. He added that hosting the event in the state capital would provide a major boost to the state's hospitality, tourism and real estate sectors. Credai national originally planned to organise NATCON in Amsterdam, and preparations were under way for several months. However, the organisation later announced that the event would instead be held in India as a gesture of support for the Centre's call for economic prudence and ‘nation first' policies. Credai president Shekhar Patel stated that the real estate sector, being one of the country's largest employment generators, must align with national priorities during challenging global conditions. The host city for NATCON 2026 is expected to be announced shortly, with Thiruvananthapuram emerging as the most likely venue.
