The renovation works include construction of steps, granite walkway, landscaping, seats, entrance, platform around flag post, retaining walls, road development, renovation of Nishagandhi auditorium, toilets and electrical works. The land development corporation has been given charge of the year-long works, a press release said.
The renovation aims to help regain the bygone glory of Kanakakunnu. As part of this, the middle entrance, which had existed earlier, will be rebuilt. Hectic work is on so that the construction will be over by August 25 when the Onam week celebrations begin. Nishagandhi auditorium and Kanakakkunnu Palace hall are the venues for the week-long fiesta.
