Tamil Nadu girl molested, abandoned in Kottarakkara

KOLLAM: A case has been registered after a 15-year-old girl — who claimed to be from Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu — was found under suspicious circumstances near the KSRTC bus stand in Kottarakkara on Sunday morning, police said.
The girl, who appeared to be under sedation, told the police that her lover, Rajesh, and two of his friends had molested her in a Kanyakumari lodge and abandoned her in Kottarakara on Saturday evening.
She has been admitted to the taluk hospital, where a medical examination ruled out rape.
The girl told the police that she had eloped with Rajesh two days ago. The lovers proceeded to Kanyakumari in a car, and two others, introduced to the girl as Rajesh's friends, joined them en route, the police quoted the girl.
"They checked into a lodge in Kanyakumari, where the men molested her after forcing her to consume sleeping pills," an investigator said.
The police sent a team to Tuticorin in search of Rajesh and his aides. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu police said the girl hailed from Tirunelveli.
Aiysha Potti, MLA, visited the girl in the hospital. DYFI workers staged a march to the hospital, demanding the immediate arrest of those who had tortured the girl.
