Trichy:
DMK MP
Kanimozhi on Saturday ridiculed leader of the opposition Edappadi Palaniswami saying instead of promising a fridge, he should have opted for a washing machine. At Thirumayam in Pudukottai, deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said
BJP is trying to remote-control TN by using EPS.
Addressing a campaign in Mannaparai to shore up support for alliance partner MMK and its candidate, P Abdul Samad, MLA, Kanimozhi said BJP targets political opponents through central agencies. "If you are in the opposition, all these agencies will be used to threaten you. The next day, if a party joins BJP or forms an alliance, they are put inside a washing machine to come out clean." She added that EPS is a product of such a ‘washing machine' exercise.
"This alliance is opportunistic and will change every election," she said. Later, when reporters asked her about Union minister Piyush Goyal releasing a white paper on the state's ‘financial crisis,' she said, "They should first address the LPG cylinder issue before talking about Tamil Nadu." The DMK MP later campaigned in Srirangam and constituencies in Karur.
At Thirumayam, Udhayanidhi said, "Last elections EPS rented AIADMK to BJP, but this time he has sold it." On EPS's charge that schemes like laptop scheme was an extension of their scheme, he said, "Laptop scheme was stopped in 2019, but CM Stalin revived it. Instead of giving it to school students, he chose to give to college students, for whom it is more useful. Ten lakh students have benefitted."
