Passenger arrested at Trichy airport for using fraudulent passport
Trichy: The Trichy city police arrested a 52-year-old passenger for travelling with a fraudulently procured passport.
K Selvakumar, a resident of Nilakkottai in Dindigul district, was detained by the airport police after arriving in Trichy from Malaysia on an Air India Express flight late Thursday.
During routine verification, immigration officer M N Pandey noticed discrepancies in Selvakumar's passport and conducted a detailed examination. It was found that Selvakumar had fraudulently falsified his date and place of birth to obtain the passport.
Following a complaint from the immigration officer, the airport police registered a case against Selvakumar under relevant sections of the BNS and the Passports Act, 1967.
