Udaipur: Six persons were injured in a leopard attack in Antri forest area in Dungarpur on Saturday. Irate villagers later surrounded the leopard and beat it to death with sticks and stones.
The incident took place in Upala Ghara Nokna of the interior forest area. The leopard first attacked cattle tied outside the houses. When the cattle started bawling, the villagers rushed to save them.
In retaliation, the leopard attacked and injured six persons. When other villagers from the nearby area reached the spot, the leopard went into the bushes in a nearby anicut.
Villagers said that two leopards had come to the village together from the nearby forest to hunt cattle. One leopard strayed inside the village while the second one, which was unable to walk due to leg injury, sat in the bushes of a nearby anicut.
