VADODARA: Growing awareness about built heritage has put the sotlight on heritage monuments this World Tourism Day. On Tuesday, different organizations joined hands to celebrate the World Tourism Day in the city.
If M S University's Department of Archaeology and Ancient History joined hands with the Vadodara circle of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for an exhibition on heritage monuments of Gujarat, the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery too kicked off an exhibition to showcase Gujarat's tourism potential.
The exhibition titled 'Past for present and future' jointly organised by MSU and ASI had chronologically displayed the heritage structures of Gujarat. Starting from Harappan sites like Dholavira and Lothal to the early temples of Gujarat like the Sun temple at Sutrapada in Saurashtra region to the temples from medieval times like that at Modhera, the exhibition displayed all the heritage monuments that Gujarat has to offer on tourism front.
It even includes displays of Rani Ki Vav, Patan and the Vav at Adalaj under the water monuments category, Dutch fort at Diu and Dutch cemetery of Surat under the colonial buildings category apart from displays of city gates and torans.
This exhibition will remain open for visitors till September 30 between 10 am to 5 pm.
