NADIAD: A 300-bed eye hospital was inaugurated at Santram Mandir in Nadiad on Thursday, a day before the 183rd Samadhi Mahotsav of Saint Santram.
The 'Santram Netra Chikitsalay' has hi-tech medical facilities at the new hospital building, which is equipped with ultramodern sonography, Xray and CT scan machines. The poor and middle class patients would continue to be given free treatment.
Ashish Dave, coordinator at Santram Mandir, told TOI, the hospital building has been built at a cost of Rs 20 crore. The eye hospital earlier had 170 beds and every day conducted approximately 100 eye operations free of cost. Lakhs of surgeries have been performed on people from Gujarat and neighbouring states at the eye hospital since its inception.tnn
