Gorakhpur: In a heartwarming display of patriotism and pride, 17 newborn girls in Kushinagar district have been named ‘Sindoor' in honour of the Indian Army's recent counter-terror operation in Pakistan — codenamed Operation Sindoor.‘Sindoor' has transcended its traditional meaning, emerging as a symbol of resilience, sacrifice and national unity.At Kushinagar Medical College, Principal R K Shahi confirmed that 17 baby girls born within a span of 48 hours were named ‘Sindoor' by their families."The name reflects the collective emotion and pride felt across the region," he said. Families across the district echoed similar sentiments. Archana Shahi from Bhedihari village shared, "We decided the name even before birth. Sindoor is now an inspiration — it stands for bravery." Her husband, Ajit Shahi, added that the name is a tribute to the soldiers who restored national pride.In Padrauna, Madan Gupta's family also chose the name for their newborn granddaughter. "It's a way to remember the operation and honour the armed forces," he said.Vyasmuni's wife from Bhathahi Babu village and Priyanka Devi from Padrauna expressed hopes that the name would inspire their daughters to grow up as strong, proud citizens of the country.A labour Vinod in Sevrahi area also named his daughter as Sindoor.
