2 held for attempt to scam police recruitment exam
Varanasi: Rajatalab police arrested a candidate who came to take the police recruitment exam (2025) by impersonating his cousin for which he was carrying forged Aadhaar and admit card . The registered candidate was also arrested.
According to reports, on Tuesday, during written examination in the first shift of the Direct Recruitment-2025 exam for the posts of constable civil police, held at Dr Rammanohar Lohia Postgraduate College, Bhairavtalab, under Rajatalab police station, Raj Kumar Sah was caught attempting to appear in place of the registered candidate, Deepak Kumar Jyeshthvant, his cousin, using forged documents.
The matter came to light during checking when mismatch was found repeatedly in biometric verification, iris scan and face matching. On the basis of written complaint of centre administrator Prof Randhir Singh, case was registered under Sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2) of BNS and Sections 7/13(3) and 8/13(5) of the UP Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act-2024.
Police team led by SI Amarjeet Kumar of Sarnath police station arrested Raj Kumar Sah (31) and Deepak Kumar Jyeshthvant (30), residents of Ballia district. Police recovered a forged Aadhaar card and other documents including original Aadhaar card, PAN card, admit card (photocopy), OMR answer sheet (second copy) and question booklet. The police sent both cousins to jail after legal action.
During interrogation, Raj Kumar Sah admitted that he had attempted to take the exam in place of his cousin Deepak Kumar Jyeshthvant by preparing a forged Aadhaar card. He said the actual candidate was present outside the examination centre, following which Deepak Kumar was also taken into custody by police. Deepak Kumar admitted he had sent Raj Kumar Sah to take the exam in his place and that forged documents had been prepared related to the application.
