VARANASI: At least four persons, including a woman, were killed when a Tata Sumo car and a Vikram three-wheeler collided on Varanasi-Ghazipur highway near Tulsipur area under Sadar Kotwali police station in Ghazipur district on Thursday.
According to reports, family members of Radheyshyam Chaubey had gone to Vindhyachal in Mirzapur district in a Sumo vehicle for the Mundan ceremony of his grandson.
After the ceremony ended, they returned home in the same vehicle. When they reached near Tulsipur, a Vikram appeared in front of the Sumo in a bid to overtake a truck. Before the Sumo driver could do anything both vehicles collided.
Krishna Devi (40) and three other passengers of the Vikram including Subba Bind (41), an ex-serviceman Umrao Pal (60) of Nandganj and Baliram Yadav (65) of Kasimabad died on the spot while 19 other persons suffered injuries in the accident. On receiving information, ASP City Ram Swaroop Singh also reached the incident site. All the injured persons were rushed to district hospital. On noticing sharp deterioration in the health condition of three injured persons doctors referred them to Varanasi.
