‘Ayurvedic remedies can help beat heatwave’
Varanasi: Amid rising temperatures and heatwave conditions, health experts have advised people to follow Ayurvedic practices to remain healthy during the scorching summer.
Prof. Anand Chaudhary of the department of Ras Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS-BHU, shared traditional Ayurvedic remedies to help people protect themselves from intense heat. He said that some traditional beverages in summer are no less than medicine. Aam Panna, made from raw mangoes, is considered the most effective remedy against heatstroke. It keeps electrolytes balanced in the body. Similarly, Bel ka Sharbat keeps the stomach cool and prevents dehydration. Sattu solution not only provides instant energy to the body but also offers cooling relief.
He said health issues such as heatstroke, dehydration, dizziness, and fatigue become common in summer. Simple home remedies prescribed in Ayurveda not only protect against heatstroke but also keep the body cool and refreshed from within. If these remedies are incorporated into daily routine, the effects of heat can be significantly reduced and the body remains balanced.
Several items available in the kitchen are also effective in providing relief from heat. Coriander seed water and mint sharbat or chutney reduce the body's internal heat. Drinking water soaked overnight with fennel seeds in the morning calms Pitta Dosha and keeps the body cool. If excessive heat is felt in the body, applying sandalwood paste on the forehead and chest provides immediate relief.
Prof Chaudhary said that the home remedies described in Ayurveda for protection against heat and heatstroke will certainly provide affordable and effective relief to the common people during this intense summer.
