Varanasi: A police team on Sunday raided the Bada Darwaja residence of late gangster-turned-politician
Mukhtar Ansari in Ghazipur and served a notice to his son, Mau Sadar MLA Abbas Ansari. The notice seeks an explanation for his continued stay at the house beyond the three-day limit set by the
Supreme Court as a bail condition in the Gangsters Act case filed in Chitrakoot.
Ghazipur SP Iraj Raja on Monday said that to ensure proper compliance with the court order, CO Mohamadabad Sudhakar Pandey and his team went to the Yusufpur residence of Ansaris and served the notice. No reply was given to the police against the notice by Monday evening, he added.
The police team reached the Yusufpur residence of Ansari late on Sunday night when Abbas met them in the presence of his cousin and Mohammadabad MLA Suhaib Ansari Mannu. Their video while interacting with the police remained viral on social media on Monday.
Officials said that as per the conditions of the bail granted by the SC to Abbas in Jan in the Gangsters Act case lodged in Chitrakoot, he can stay at the Mohamadabad residence for a maximum of three days, but he had been staying there beyond the stipulated period. They asked Abbas to reply to the notice and also inform whether he had any other order assuring further relaxations to him.
