VARANASI: The Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) organised a prize distribution function of the 54th Rail Week at the auditorium on Friday. DLW general manager SM Bharadwaj felicitated 95 officials and employees for their outstanding performance.
Addressing the function, Bharadwaj highlighted the performance and achievements of DLW in manufacturing locomotives.
Maintaining its glorious tradition, the DLW manufactured 157 locomotives in 2008-09, crossing the target of 250 locomotives set by the Railway Board, he said and added that 35 more locomotives were manufacture in comparison to 2007-08.
He further stated DLW had been producing high horsepower and ultramodern EMD locomotives. Beginning with the production of 39 such locomotives in 2006-07, DLW manufactured 59 EMD locomotives in 2007-08 and 80 in 2008-09, he said and added that in marketing sector, DLW so far received purchase orders for 23 locomotives worth of Rs 166 crore in the current financial year.
As many as 20 locomotives were already supplied to the non-railway customers, earning revenue worth of Rs 122.55 crore. ���Besides, spare parts worth Rs 10.61 crore were also supplied to the non-railway customers,��� he added.
Art and Craft and Science Exhibition: An art and craft and science exhibition was held at Dr Amrit Lal Ishrat Memorial Sunbeam School (DALIMS), Sigra, on Saturday. Varieties of items created by students like electric dynamo, smokeless chimney, photoelectric sell, and many others were put on display.
The annual results of the school were also announced on the occasion. The function was inaugurated by Prof HC Rathore of the Banaras Hindu University. The function was also attended by president Pradeep Madhok, director Pooja Madhok, Monica Saraswat and others.
