Journalist Radheyshyam Sharma (55), a resident of Sikitia Bantolwa village, who was also a teacher in a private college, had left home on his motorcycle around 8.30am.

‘Slain journo had enmity with accused’

He was waylaid near Duboulia village by assailants who slit his throat and dumped him on the roadside.

Villagers working in the nearby fields rushed on hearing noise but the assailants managed to escape by then.

SP Kushinagar Vinod Kumar Mishra and ASP Gaurav Banswal inspected the spot along with police team and dog squad.

“Ajay Sharma, son of the deceased, gave a written complaint following which an FIR was registered against Tej Pratap Singh, son of Gorakh Singh, and Ramgopal Singh, son of Late Motichand Singh, both of Sikitia Bantolwa village under Hata police station, Kushinagar district, under sections 302 (murder), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) IPC,” the SP said.

“We have arrested Ramgopal Singh and have launched a search for Tej Pratap Singh. The dog squad located bloodstained clothes from the house of Tej Pratap Singh. During interrogation, we found that the deceased had old animosity with both accused. Tej Pratap is absconding, but will be arrested soon,” added Mishra.
