Nine gamblers held with cash and cards

VARANASI: The Chetganj police raided a house in Piplani Katra area and arrested nine gamblers with Rs 50,240, playing cards and several mobile phones on Monday.
According to SP (city) MS Chauhan, the police received a a tip-off that one Dilip Kumar Srivastava of Piplani Katra area was allowing gamblers to assemble at his residence for gambling on a regular basis.The Chetganj police raided the place. When police entered the house, nine gamblers were busy gambling. All of them, including Dilip, were arrested. During police investigation, it came to light that Dilip was making a huge earning by collecting his commission on each round of gambling.
Looter nabbed: The Chetganj police on Monday succeeded in nabbing a notorious looter, Narain Yadav alias Raja, of Badi Piyari area from Jai Singh Crossing. The police recovered a countrymade revolver, live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle from his possession. SP (city) MS Chauhan said the Chetganj police were busy in vehicle checking near Jai Singh crossing where three suspicious looking motorcycle-borne persons passed through the area. When the police tried to stop them, they tried to flee. But, Raja was arrested while his two accomplices managed to escape. Raja was involved in several cases of loot and arms act.
