VARANASI: Precious wrist watches worth over Rs 7 lakh were stolen from a showroom just in front of Chetganj police station in the city on Friday night. In another incident, some thieves decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 4.5 lakh from a house in Bhardwajitola under Adampur police station limits.
According to reports, a showroom of a branded watch company is situated in front of Chetganj police station.
On Friday night, some thieves reached behind the shop building through a gallery and barged into it from the rear side. After entering the shop, the thieves stole the watches of above Rs 2,000 cost. The incident came to light when the owner opened the showroom on Saturday morning. According to him, the cost of stolen watches is above Rs 7 lakh. The incident brought the police officials on their toes. Dog and fingerprint squads were engaged by the police to collect clues.
In the second incident, in Bhardwajitola locality under Adampur police station limits, some thieves entered Sanjay Baranwal's house by climbing up the terrace. They stole cash and valuables worth over Rs 4.5 lakh and fled the scene.
