Youth dead, electrocution suspected

Varanasi: Body of a 21-year-old youth was found with burns near a canal in Gangahra Khurd village in Lalganj police station area of Mirzapur district, on Wednesday. He was identified as Kishan Kumar, resident of Lahangpur village.

According to reports, Kumar worked at a textile shop in Lahangpur market. On Tuesday night, he stepped out of home and did not return. The family members searched for him till late night. Meanwhile, there was a storm followed by rain. His body was found with burn marks on the leg near electricity sub-station and canal located in Gangahra Khurd village on Wednesday morning. Burn marks from an electric current were found on his leg.
Inspector in charge Abhay Kumar Singh and Lahangpur outpost in charge Sujit Kumar Seth reached the spot along with police force and forensic team and started the investigation. Additional SP (operations) Rajkumar Meena and police CO Amar Bahadur inspected the spot and spoke to Kumar’s family members.

On written complaint of the deceased's uncle Ramnaresh, a panchnama was filed and body was sent for post mortem. Police said prima facie the death appeared to have been caused by an electric current.
