TIRUPATI: The close aides of Jammalamadugu BJP MLA C Adinarayana Reddy ransacked
Adani group's camp office and assaulted the company staff at its under construction power project near Kondapuram Ragikunta village in Jammalamadugu constituency of Kadapa district on Tuesday evening.
Following a heated altercation with the Adani group staff, the MLA's followers who were led by two close aides identified as Siva Narayana Reddy and Rajesh Reddy, resorted to stone pelting and damaged various machinery and equipment at the site. The window pane of the camp office was also damaged in the attack.
While high tension prevailed at the spot for a brief while, the local police rushed
The Adani group is establishing a 1000 MW pumped storage power plant in an extent of about 470 acres of land near Kondapuram Ragikunta village and construction works has begun at the site.
The MLA's followers reportedly created ruckus at the construction site after questioning the Adani group staff as to why they didn't approach the local MLA Adinarayana Reddy and seek his support before commencing the construction works.
Following the unprecedented attack on their camp office and the assault on their staff, Adani group representatives lodged a complaint at the Talla Proddatur police station late on Tuesday night.
Talla Proddatur SI Rishikeshwar Reddy stated that a case was being registered against those involved in the attack based on the complaint lodged by the Adani group representatives.
Responding on the incident which took place in the Kadapa parliament constituency limits, Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy lamented that while on one hand the state govt talks big about bringing industries and investments to the state, on the other hand the ruling party legislators are involved in acts of extortion and acts of blackmailing the promoters of industries.
The attack on the Adani group's camp office is highly deplorable and the state govt should invoke section 386 (extortion) on the BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy and his followers for the unprecedented attack they carried out at the under construction power project site.
"If the TDP led NDA govt is truly committed to bringing industries and investments to the state, such acts of extortion and attacks should be prevented by booking the culprits involved in the attack on the Adani group camp office near Ragikunta, so that the govt's action sends across a strong message to all elected representatives to refrain from blackmailing industries for commissions or kickbacks", Avinash Reddy demanded the govt.
