VIJAYAWADA: Continuing the protests against Vijay Devarkonda’s ‘
Arjun Reddy’ movie, women's rights activists and other feminist associations across Vijayawada conducted funeral proceedings of
Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Monday.
Hundreds of agitators of National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) conducted a procession in Eluru Road and cried foul that ‘Telugu Film Industry is dying’ with movies like Arjun Reddy. Women agitators also burnt the posters of Arjun Reddy movie raising slogans demanding the government to ban its screening in the state.
They criticised it saying that it has nothing but abusive contest and will ruin the youngsters. Speaking to media, State Secretary of NFIW P Durga Bhavani said that they are conducting the funeral for CBFC for being ‘blind’ in permitting movies like Arjun Reddy which are ruining youth with obscene content. “Nowadays, filmmakers are selecting abusive content as a success formula but they don’t care that it affects the future generations,” Bhavani said.
She also urged Telugu filmmakers not to make such kind of movies just to make money as it could cause mayhem in the city.
