VIJAYAWADA: Sri Venkateswara Swamy's special celestial wedding was held on Monday at the Sri Bhoo Samatha Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Dokiparru Mahakshetram in a festive mood.
As part of the Mahakshetram's ninth anniversary, a special kalyaanam of the deity was celebrated by Kommareddy Bapireddy and Vijayabhaskaramma.
They both sat on the pedestal and performed the kalyaanam of Lord Srinivasa. Vedic scholars explained the significance of Lord Venkateswara Kalyanam along with the chanting of mantras, including the good meanings that come with it.
The Mahakshetram was decorated with various flowers to officiate the marriage of Lord Sri Venkateswara. Vedic scholars explained that those who do not have daughters consider Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Padmavati as their own and perform Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam according to the Divyashree Vaikhanasa Bhagavachchastra path.
Before the celestial wedding of Lord Sri Venkateswara, the Vedic scholars performed a special bath for the deities. After the Nitya Archana and Tomala Seva, the ceremonial idols were brought to the Snapana Mandapam and anointed with milk, yoghurt, honey, spices, and sandalwood, followed by Chakrasnanam in the specially decorated conch in the temple premises.
Vedic scholars say that after bathing and visiting the conch after performing the Srivari Chakrasnanam, one gains the power of a hundred horsemen if one sprinkles water on the conch. They said that if the Swami bathes in their Pushkarini every day, the result will be the same as the holy bath during the river pushkarams.
The founding trustees of the temple, P V Krishna Reddy, Sudha Reddy, and P V Subbareddy, along with Sumalata, P Virareddy, Vijayalakshmi, Kommareddy Bapireddy, Vijaya Bhaskaramma, P Nagireddy, the Prasanna couple, their family members, and a large number of devotees participated in Srivari Chakrasnanam and Kalyanam.
