GVMC demolishes structures belonging to YSRCP MP’s daughter

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials demolished illegal structures on Bheemunipatnam beach on Saturday. The structures, which belong to Penaka Neha Reddy, daughter of YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy, were found to be in violation of coastal regulation zone (CRZ) regulations.The high court, which earlier directed GVMC to take steps to remove all illegal constructions in the CRZ area after hearing a PIL filed by Jana Sena corporator P Murthy Yadav, denied a stay on the demolition of the structures two days ago. Following the court's orders, GVMC officials started the demolitions two weeks ago. The high court recently ordered to complete the demolition to ground level and mandated that the demolition costs be recovered from Neha Reddy. According to officials, the illegal constructions were built on approximately four acres of land in survey numbers 1516, 1517, 1519, and 1523 in Bheemili. The structures were purportedly developed for a star hotel on the beachfront.Vijayasai Reddy accused Vizag MP M Sribharat and IT minister and TDP national secretary Nara Lokesh of acting out of political vendetta. "This is the second time the walls on our private property in Bheemili were demolished. I consider this childish behaviour. The house where chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu resides is an illegal structure developed on the Krishna riverbank. It should also be demolished as per law," he said in a social media post.The GVMC, in its notice to Avyaan Realtors, belonging to Neha Reddy, earlier demanded a copy of the building plans, tax receipts, and electricity bills. Failure to comply with the notice would result in legal action, it said in the notice.
