Vijayawada: The Gannavaram airport is holding discussions with higher authorities to introduce more flights, airport director G Madhusudana Rao said on Wednesday. He added the airport would be starting more flights to Hyderabad, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam from October 27.
Addressing a meeting with members of the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (AP Chambers), Rao said the Gannavaram airport was considering the request for direct flights between Vijayawada and Shirdi and Pune in Maharashtra and an unnamed destination in Gujarat.
The airport had given a representation to the state government to allow direct immigration to passengers travelling abroad from Gannavaram via New Delhi.
