Three robber gangs nabbed in Guntur
Vijayawada: Tenali Three-Town police in Guntur recently busted three gangs involved in a series of robberies targeting elderly persons, aged between 55 and 70 years, from nearby villages.
The arrested accused are Sheikh Kalesh (63), Panuganti Venkateswara Rao (34), Sheikh Khaja (25), Mudiyala Sudarshan Reddy (28), Valeru Kranti (24), Madduri Ramesh (50), Badugu Samson (40), Elamanchi Rama Rao (49), Orch Venkatesh (23), and a juvenile (15).
According to Guntur SP, Satis Kumar, the accused would approach elderly individuals and offer them auto rides, claiming to take them to their destinations. On the way, they would divert the vehicle to isolated areas and rob the victims of money and gold.
Acting on credible information, inspector S Ramesh Babu alerted officials about Sheikh Kalesh's presence near VSR&NVR main road, near the Vinayaka statue. Sub-inspector N Prakash Rao and his team nabbed the miscreant despite his attempt to flee. Upon interrogation, Kalesh confessed to his crimes.
Meanwhile, another gang, led by one Panuganti Venkateswara Rao, was apprehended near Vijayadurga bar & restaurant on Sultanabad main road. The gang attempted to escape upon spotting the police but failed to do so.
The third gang, led by Badugu Samson, operated with similar tactics. SI N Prakash Rao and his team arrested the miscreants..
