Politics takes a backseat at AP legislators sports meet

Vijayawada: Setting aside political rivalries, MLAs and MLCs from across Andhra Pradesh came together for the inauguration of the ‘AP Legislators Sports Meet–2026' (Aata Vidupu), celebrating fitness and camaraderie beyond the assembly floor.The event was inaugurated at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in the city by assembly speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu and legislative council Chairman Koyye Moshen Raju, alongside other dignitaries. The ceremonial lighting of the tournament lamp and flag hoisting marked the formal opening.Addressing the gathering, Ayyanna Patrudu said the sports meet provides much-needed relief from the pressures of public life and strengthens bonds among legislators. Moshen Raju noted that the initiative, originally introduced by former chief minister N T Rama Rao, continues to foster goodwill and teamwork. The meet promises days of energetic competition, reinforcing the message that teamwork extends beyond politics.
