Visakhapatnam: The state human resources and IT minister, Nara Lokesh, said that govt is aiming to transform AP govt schools into some top model schools in the country. State govt would soon initiate inter-school competitions and science fairs. Apart from this, a special WhatsApp group would be created to keep track of rankings of the schools.
Lokesh recently conducted surprise inspections at several schools.
“Govt has formed the Vidya committees not to show authority, but to enhance the quality in govt schools. The responsibility of maintenance of the wash rooms falls on the committees,” he said.
Lokesh also met with the people’s representatives, lawyers, and GVMC corporators before meeting the cadres and leaders. He paid surprise visits in Bheemili constituency along with Vizag MP M Sribharat and Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Friday. He also visited Chandrampalem ZP high school and Bheemili Kasturba school. During his interactions with students, he inquired from them about the teaching and facilities being provided to them. He also visited remedial classrooms for students with slow progress in education. During his visit, the minister sat down with the teachers as well. He appreciated Bheemili Kasturba school after learning that two students of this school achieved seats in IITs.
Later, the students of this school requested Lokesh to make arrangements for lab chemicals and computer lab facilities, besides providing a big play arena. They urged him to provide beds in the dormitory and health kits .
