Construction for Central Tribal University in Andhra's Kuntivalasa begins, set to complete by 2026
VISAKHAPATNAM: The construction of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh (CTUAP) has begun at Kuntivalasa, located between Saluru and Gajapatinagaram Assembly Constituencies. The construction is expected to be completed by 2026.
Initially, a land parcel of 526 acres at Appanna Dorapalem in the Relli revenue area in Kottavalasa was finalized for the construction of the CTUAP. However, the previous government decided to build the university at Kuntivalasa, acquired the land, and laid the foundation stone exactly a year ago.
The state government has focused on the detailed construction plan, and university classes are continuing at the Andhra University PG Centre at Konkarakam. Higher authorities in the central government have already instructed state officials to expedite the construction work. They even inquired about the status of the work in a recent video conference review.
District Collector Dr BR Ambedkar told media personnel that all construction activity would be supervised by central government departments. The state government will complete the approach road, drinking water, and electricity works. About 30% of the estimated Rs 3 crore for drinking water works have been completed, and district officials have proposed an estimated Rs 3 crore for an electrical sub-station. The district authorities have identified 12 acres for the approach road, with another five acres to be acquired.
Sources said that a six-lane cement road will be constructed from NH 26 to the university, along with side drainage, at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore, and Rs 49 lakh for electrification. Authorities will spend around Rs 7 crore on the drinking water supply. Previously estimated at Rs 525 crore, the cost of permanent structures on the university campus has escalated to Rs 834 crore due to construction delays and increased prices.
