Visakhapatnam: The IMD issued an orange alert (heavy to very heavy rains ) for Srikakulam, Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR), Eluru, and NTR districts and a yellow alert (heavy rains) in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Anakapalle, Kakinada, Yanam, East Godavari, Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nandyal, Kurnool and Anantapur districts of the state for Saturday.

Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the AP coast and Yanam.
The weather agency also predicted heavy rains in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Manyam, ASR, Kakinada, Eluru and West Godavari districts for Sunday. This apart, squally weather with wind speed reaching 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off north Andhra Pradesh coast and Yanam.
Director of IMD-Amaravati, S Stella, said the well-marked low pressure area over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha persisted and lay over the same region on Friday.
“It is likely to move further west-northwestwards towards north AP and adjoining south Odisha coasts, intensify into a depression over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal during next 36 hours. Under its impact heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur at isolated places in five districts and heavy rainfall will lash in 15 districts on Saturday,” the IMD -Amaravati director added.
