Visakhapatnam: The demand for a separate railway zone with Vizag as the headquarters can become a reality only when the state government extends help and agrees to coordinate with the centre, said Vizag BJP MP K Hari Babu.
Addressing the media after releasing a book on his two-year tenure as Vizag MP here on Friday, Hari Babu said the state unit of BJP has requested the Prime Minister to set up a separate railway zone in the state.
"The central government is studying the railway zone and special status issues and once the study is over, they will make a statement. Right now the central government is releasing the necessary funds for AP," he added.
Hari Babu further said it was the responsibility of the state government to implement and complete projects sanctions by the central government.
"If the state government follows the same rules that were followed to complete the Pattiseema project, then the Polavaram project can be completed by the scheduled time," he added.
