VISAKHAPATNAM: The city cops detained two women from Thailand on Friday on the charges of working on Tourist Visa at a massage parlour in the city. Police conducted surprise raid at Ruan Spa Centre located at Asilmetta and arrested the organiser of the centre V. Abilash of Karimnagar in Telangana. This was the second such incident in the city in the last three months as four women from Thailand were arrested from another spa located in Seethammadhara area in the city.
The Thai women were identified as Chamnan Montian (34) and Supinya Chaiharan (42). They landed in the Vizag city on tourist visa and were employed in the spa centre to extend services of Thai Massage to customers. Sources said that they were offered daily salary from 40% of the fee collected from the customers.
As per the preliminary investigation, the Thailand women arrived in Vizag city around two months ago. The organizer of the spa Abhilash has given employment to the Thai women in the spa centre on the third floor of Kubar Towers Shopping Complex, near Kalamindir at Asilmetta in the city by violating the norms. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP of Special Branch wing) PV Ravi Kumar said that both the women from Ruan Spa were arrested under sections 14 (b) and (C) of Foreigners Act- 1946. Both the ladies from Thailand were kept under surveillance of Women Constables and their original passports were seized, he added.
