She's Preity angry...
Zinta slaps a suit against a publication for using her name in a derogatory manner.
She is known for her happy-go-lucky persona on-screen but off-screen, Preity Zinta is enraged these days. After her name was dragged in the alleged Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai tapes controversy in a derogatory manner, she has sued a newspaper for defamation.
"I have filed a defamation case against this tabloid for dragging my name into the alleged Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai tape controversy.
My name was repeatedly used in a derogatory sense without any reference to me, in print, on the net, without giving me any chance to argue my side. I expect some accountability from the media and refuse to put up with such trash," says a visibly angry Zinta.

But aren't the tapes and the related controversies past now? "I had decided to approach the court at that time itself, but I was in the US for about three months, and one needs to be present physically to file a case. So I waited till I got back to India this week itself to take this further," she explains.
The gutsy Zinta has never been known to shy away from anything, including controversies. "I don't think starting this case after three months is raking up the controversy. For, I believe this is the age of information and news is supposed to be authentic.
I have nothing against the press, I'm not hostile towards the media, but at the same time I want it to be accountable for what it says. I'm just demanding that accountability."
However, India has a dismal record when it comes to such litigation. But the lady feels otherwise. "I have full faith in the judiciary and in the system, whatever the past may be. If you fight for the truth, it always pays off. It's worth it. That's what I believe."
