CBSE Class 12th result 2026 not tomorrow: Scorecards expected in third week of May, here's what officials say
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rejected the claims of delays and technical glitches in the evaluation of Class 12th answer sheets under its newly introduced On-Screen Marking system. The board asserted that the process is functioning “perfectly” and remains firmly on schedule, as reported by PTI.
Speaking to PTI, Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj clarified that reports suggesting disruptions in the digital evaluation system are “far away from facts.” He reiterated that the board is adhering to its planned timeline, with Class 12 results expected to be declared in the third week of May, as indicated earlier.
The On-Screen Marking system, introduced to modernise evaluation practices, allows examiners to assess answer scripts digitally rather than handling physical copies. The move is aimed at speeding up the checking process, maintaining consistency, and enabling faster result compilation.
Despite initial concerns raised in sections of the media, CBSE has maintained that the system is operating without disruption and is delivering results as intended.
The CBSE Class 12 board examinations for 2026 were conducted between February 17 and April 10, covering lakhs of students across the country. Following the completion of exams, the evaluation phase began in a phased manner, supported by the digital marking framework.
Earlier indications had pointed towards a late-April result timeline, but the board has consistently maintained that results would be released in May, aligning with its standard academic calendar.
While the 2026 data will be released along with the results, previous years provide a clear benchmark. In 2025, over 16.9 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 examinations, recording an overall pass percentage of 88.39 per cent. Girls continued to outperform boys, with a pass rate exceeding 91 per cent, compared to around 85.70 per cent for boys.
In 2024, the overall pass percentage stood at 87.98 per cent, while 2023 recorded 87.33 per cent, reflecting a consistent performance trend in the high 80s. The exceptional spike was seen in 2021, when the pass percentage reached 99.37 per cent due to pandemic-related assessment policies.

Third week of May? What if, some students could not able to make it? Third week means between 14 - 21 and some students have to give their exams before that, then preparation for the exams will be in vain. Moreover, centres for the examinations are really far for some students and the concern is, some parents can hardly afford that. After reaching the given state or district if, they come to know that their child could not able to make it, both the money and preparation of students and parents will be wasted. Put some perceptions on this, and many students anticipated the result to be declared soon because of digital evaluation, but our system is failing and perhaps lacked.Read allPost comment
