JEE Advanced 2026 registration opens for Foreign and OCI/PIO (F) candidates: Check steps to apply here
The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has opened the registration window for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 for foreign nationals and OCI/PIO (F) candidates from April 6, 2026. The early registration window, exclusively for foreign nationals and OCI/PIO (F) candidates, will remain active until May 2, 2026. The aspirants who have qualified JEE Mains will be able to apply between April 4 and May 2. The deadline for the fee payment across all categories is May 4, 2026.
According to the official information bulletin, candidates who are not Indian citizens—whether by birth or naturalization—fall under the foreign national category. These candidates vie for supernumerary seats that are limited to no more than 10 percent of the overall intake per stream. It is important to note that these seats lie outside the ambit of the reservation criteria as prescribed by the Constitution of India and therefore include GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD, among others.
The lack of any sub-divisions, especially gender-based quotas in this pool, further emphasizes the uniqueness and meritocratic orientation of this admission route.
As far as OCI/PIO candidates are concerned, the category is determined by an important date point – all those having obtained their cards prior to March 4, 2021, have the option to either be classified as foreigners or considered along with the Indian applicants.
