NIC Recruitment 2026: Registration opens for 153 Scientist C and D posts, direct link to apply here
The National Informatics Centre (NIC), functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has invited online applications for the recruitment of Scientist-C and Scientist-D posts on a direct recruitment basis. The drive aims to fill 153 vacancies across various technical and scientific domains, offering lucrative pay scales and opportunities to work on core government technology infrastructure, including e-Governance and national digital platforms.
The online application process commenced on April 8, 2026, and will remain open until April 30, 2026 (5:30 PM). Interested and eligible candidates must apply through the official recruitment portal, as no offline applications will be accepted.
The recruitment includes 12 posts for Scientist-D and 141 posts for Scientist-C. Scientist-D positions fall under Pay Level 12 (₹78,800 – ₹2,09,200), while Scientist-C roles are offered under Pay Level 11 (₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700).
Out of the total vacancies, category-wise reservations have been allocated for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and EWS candidates as per government norms. Additionally, 6 posts are reserved horizontally for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) across categories including locomotor disability, hard of hearing, and multiple disabilities.
Candidates applying for these posts must possess a degree in engineering, technology, or relevant science disciplines. Accepted qualifications include B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, M.Sc, MCA, M.Phil, or equivalent certifications such as DOEACC ‘B’ Level and AMIE.
Eligible fields span a wide range, including Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Cyber Security, Data Communication, Software Engineering, GIS, Mathematics, Statistics, and core engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical.
For Scientist-C, applicants must have at least 4 years of relevant experience, while Scientist-D candidates are required to have 8 years of experience in research, development, or technical roles in academic institutions, industries, or government organisations. A PhD is desirable for Scientist-D roles.
Candidates holding advanced degrees such as M.Tech, M.E., or M.Phil are eligible for a 2-year relaxation in experience requirements.
