ALAPPUZHA: Former defence minister A K Antony has said that Prime Minister Narendra
Modi’s comparison of Somalia with Kerala is unpardonable and the Malayalees all over the world should come forward to protest against his remarks.
Speaking to newsmen at R Sankar Bhavan, Antony, who arrived here on Wednesday for UDF candidates campaigning, said that his Somalia comparison has adversely affect the BJP in national level.
"People had hoped that Modi would correct his statements and express sorry for his statements during his Tripunithura speech on Wednesday. Instead, he advised Kerala people that they should stand in unity and prosper. Kerala people, who were brought up listening and reading the stories of great saints, don’t want the advice of Modi,’’ he said.
Antony said that Modi lost his image in Kerala and the NDA candidates in Kerala will lose the votes, which were sure for them.
"BJP is trying religious polarization by creating a tie-up with BDJS. The SNDP Yogam was set up the great Sree Narayana Guru and the current SNDP leaders will regret once thinking about their present tie-up with the BJP. I am also concerned about the present state of BDJS,’’ he said.
He also criticized the CPM saying that CPM is not ready to abandon violence politics. "The election wind is now favourable to UDF and the next government will be the continuation of the current UDF government. Our chief minister will be decided after the elections. Now we are zeroing in on to get maximum seats," he said.
