NDA, BJP lead in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as counting progresses
Across four states, counting is well underway with leads shifting as rounds are declared. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 20 seats and is leading in 77 more, giving it a tally of 97. Congress and its allies are leading in 21 seats. Independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively lead in 7 seats with 1 won, a tally of 8. In Tamil Nadu, the 234-seat house requires 118 for a majority. SPA holds a tally of 57, with 7 won and 50 leads. NDA is trailing with a tally of 55, all leads and no seats declared. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 110 seats with 8 won, bringing their tally to 118. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat assembly, with 8 won and 192 leads giving it a tally of 200. TMC has a tally of 84, comprising 1 won and 83 leading seats. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 9 seats in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats decide a majority in the 30-seat house, NDA has won 13 and is leading in 7 more for a tally of 20, crossing the majority mark on current leads. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leading. Independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 5 in Puducherry, with 4 seats won and 1 lead.
