NDA, BJP, and UDF lead the pack across four state counts
Counting is underway across four states and the early picture shows competitive races in each. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, taking its tally to 97. The Congress-led alliance is leading in 22 seats, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In West Bengal, BJP holds a tally of 179 across the 294-seat house, having won 11 and leading in 168, well past the majority mark of 148 if those leads hold. TMC has a tally of 106, with 2 won and 104 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats in the state. In Puducherry, NDA leads the 30-seat union territory with 13 seats won and 5 leads, giving it a tally of 18 against a majority mark of 16. SPA has a tally of 5. In Kerala, UDF is the clear front-runner in the 140-seat assembly, having won 68 seats and leading in 19 more for a tally of 87, well above the majority mark of 71. LDF has a tally of 36, with 30 seats won and 6 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
