NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Votes are being counted across Assam, West Bengal, Puducherry, and Kerala, with early trends pointing to commanding positions for the front-runners in each state. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97. Congress and its allies are leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, and their tally stands at 22. Independent and other party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In West Bengal, the majority mark is 148 in a 294-seat house. BJP has won 11 seats and is leading in 168, putting its tally at 179. TMC has won 2 and is leading in 104, for a tally of 106. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA has won 13 seats and is leading in 5 more, giving it a tally of 18 in the 30-seat assembly where 16 are needed for a majority. SPA has won 2 and is leading in 3, for a tally of 5. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Puducherry. In Kerala, UDF has won 68 seats and is leading in 19, taking its tally to 87 in the 140-seat assembly where 71 are needed. LDF has won 30 and is leading in 6, for a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
