Mamata Banerjee Meets Hospitalised Abhishek Banerjee After Sonarpur Attack

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee visited a Kolkata hospital after her nephew and party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly attacked during a visit to Sonarpur in South 24-Parganas. According to police, a group of locals allegedly roughed up the TMC MP while he was meeting families affected by post-poll violence. Officials said unidentified individuals hurled stones, shoes and eggs at Banerjee, while some protesters allegedly attempted to physically assault him and raised slogans against him. Reacting to the incident, Mamata Banerjee blamed the BJP and posted a sharp message on X, accusing the party of being behind the attack. TMC leaders also alleged that the protest was politically motivated and aimed at disrupting Abhishek Banerjee’s outreach programme in the area.
