2/9

Mimi Chakraborty

The actor-politician once said, "Ma calls me Mona shona, instead of directly calling me Motu shotu, as I was so fat as a kid that my cheeks almost hid my eyes! But it’s baba who takes the cake when it comes to nicknames. He calls me Bokpakhi, as I have a habit of standing on one leg. Sometimes he calls me that in front of industry people too! When he calls me Mimi, I know something is wrong."

3/9

Swastika Mukherjee

Honestly speaking, will you enjoy it if someone calls you Bhebli? Unfortunately our beloved Swastika has no other choice but to bear the misery of having such a weird nickname. Whoever hears it, just breaks into laughter and it has only added to her annoyance. She says courtesy late Rituparno Ghosh and Prosenjit Chatterjee, Bhebli became her common name both in personal and professional life.

4/9

Raima Sen

When you are from a typical Bengali family, you have to have a cute nickname and you are quite famous in that name in your family, para, and even friends. For Raima, she has several nicknames. Though her official nickname is Dolu, those who are close to Raima would call her Dolls, Dollzie or Dolly. Even in her work front, co-actors and friends tease her with pet name. However, the Bengali actress loves to be called as Raima or Rai.

5/9

Paoli Dam

Be it the small screen or big, Paoli has set fire everywhere effortlessly with her dusky beauty and natural acting and the daredevil actress simply loves her cute nickname Pao. It’s basically an acronym of her good name. She rather enjoys every time her close ones affectionately call her Pao. That's really sweet. Even her husband calls her by this adorable nickname.

6/9

Richa Sharma

The actress once said, "My mom calls me Richu, but papa calls me Billoo or Billi, because in my childhood, my hair used to be tied in two ponytails that made me look like a cat. Then my uncle called me pakodi to poke fun at the shape of my nose and a few of cousins would call me chhipkali, as I used to look like one."

7/9

Ekavali Khanna

Her nickname doesn’t have a happy story behind it, but she loves it a lot. "It has to do with my mom, whom I’ve never seen, as she passed away during childbirth. My dad feels I look so much like her that he says I’m her echo. Hence, the nickname: Echo. And when people in Bengal mispronounce my name as ‘Ekaboli’, I ask them to call me Echo instead," shares Ekavali.

8/9

Sayantika Banerjee

Sayantika once said, "Baba still calls me Dodhimoni, because as a baby, I used to throw up after having milk. Now, though I tell baba not to call me that in front of others, he teases me by calling out that name in public! Now my friends have also started calling me Dodhimoni just to tease me. Imagine my embarrassment!"

9/9

Parno Mittra

Believe it or not the dusky beauty has a nickname as cute as Naani. Interestingly, the Bengali diva got this name from a Nepali domestic help as Naani means kid in Nepali language. Parno says initially she used to get really embarrassed whenever someone called her Naani, but now she is okay with it as Parno finds her pet name cute these days.
