Kaushik Ganguly will be going to Sweden to scout for locations to shoot a film on the controversial author's cat Kaushik Ganguly was supposed to make his next film on a foley artist of Tollywood who reproduce sounds of anything from the swishing of clothing to footsteps to breaking of glass. But it now turns out that the director has pushed this movie and instead turned his attention to making a film on a cat.
And it's not a regular cat that he wants to focus on. In His film titled Nirbashito will be inspired by controversial author
Taslima Nasrin's pet! Says Kaushik, The relationship that Taslima and her cat, Minu, share is extremely touching.
When Taslima left Kolkata in 2007, she had to leave her cat behind. That was a very difficult phase in both Taslima and Minu's lives. It's only recently that Minu has been shifted to Delhi. In my film, I have changed the name of Minu to Baghini. The character of the author inspired by Taslima will be called Nasrin. This isn't a political film but will explore the agony of two lives forced to stay away from each other. We have I met up with Taslima in Delhi and she loved the script. In fact, she doesn't even want any royalty for it since she says she is overwhelmed by the fact that through the tale of her cat, she will be able to reach to the people of Kolkata. Taslima, however, will not act in the film. Though there are rumours of Shuvraa Kundu playing the role of Nasrin, Kaushik says the cast hasn't been finalized as yet. No, that's not true.
I know, I don't want a star for my film. There are three important characters in the film apart from that of the cat's. While one is them is that of Nasrin, the other two are of the couple who kept the cat in Kolkata. Mayukh Bhaumik is busy doing the background score of the film in New York now. Shooting will begin from December 20. I will not be shooting in real locations. Portions of the movie will be shot in Kolkata and Kaushik will be off to Sweden on November 12 to scout for other locations. Cinematographer Sirsha Roy will be accompanying me to Sweden. It will be freezing cold there but we have to check out the lights so that we can shoot in an island in January. It will be mighty difficult to shoot at minus 20 degrees. But I am ready for the challenges, Kaushik signs off.
