Celebrity weddings 2018: Bengali stars who said ‘I DO’ this year

The year 2018 had been quite a lucky year for some of your favorite Bengali celebrities just like their Bollywood counterparts. While few got engaged, few tied the nuptial knot. The Bengali film industry saw one of the most happening weddings of the year when renowned filmmaker Raj Chakraborty got married to the pretty actress Subhashree Ganguly. After being involved in an on and off relationship for nearly a year, the power couple of Tollywood finally said I do in a big fat destination wedding at Bawali Rajbari on May 11. The marriage was followed by a star-studded reception with Bengali industry’s who’s who showering blessings on the newly-wed couple. Raj and Subhasree first worked together on the sets of 2016 film ‘Abhimaan’ and became special friends. The couple stole the limelight on several occasions since then, especially when there were wild rumours involving Raj with another beautiful actress Mimi Chakraborty. Despite all these rumours, last year speculations of Raj and Subhasree’s wedding were also making rounds almost every week. Now, it all ends here. Finally the love birds have exchanged vows.

Raja Chanda tied the nuptial knot with ‘Tumi Robe Nirobe’ and ‘Love Express’ fame Piyan Sarkar on November 26. For the wedding Piyan donned a Benarasi while Raja chose a traditional attire of dhoti-kurta. Raja Chanda first met Piyan during a glam hunt contest in which Raja was a judge and Piyan was a contestant. The wedding ceremony took place at the Sreerampore Rajbari, which was then followed by a grand reception at a Kolkata resort. Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dev, Soham Chakraborty, Raj Chakrabarty, Subhashree Ganguly, Sayantika Banerjee and many others from the industry poured in to bless the newly-weds.

Actress Mahua Halder got hitched to her costar Aritra Dutta at a private ceremony on December 16. She has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed movies including Ek Phali Rod, Nayikar Moto, and Ye Mothers. Aritra is also a popular face in the Bengali television industry. Aritra and Mahua were in the news for quite some time as their bonding became strong. Many big names from Industry poured in to bless the newly-weds at their reception party.

On July 7, 2018, Mahaskshay son of veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty put the garland on Madalsa Sharma in Ooty in a private marriage affair far away from the media coverage. Ahead of his wedding, a Bhojpuri actress filed a cheating and rape case against Mahakshay. Speculation was rife their marriage got canceled but He walked the aisle at the same venue following an anticipatory bail.

Bengali actress Shweta Basu Prasad got married to his long time beau Rohit Mittal on December 13. It was a traditional Bengali wedding ceremony in Pune where Shweta looked looked radiant as never before as a Bengali bride in a Benarasi sari and gold jewelries. The orange and red hue sari draped in the typical Bangali Atpoure style looked more stylish with an embroidered blouse. Shweta’s rise to fame as a television actress is quite extraordinary and she later appeared in critically acclaimed films like Makdee and Iqbal. She also played a key role in Mithun Chakraborty starrer Bengali flick ‘Ek Nadir Galpo’.
