Chauranga, starring Arpita, in competition at German film fest

After being feted at festivals in Mumbai and abroad, Chauranga ��� starring Arpita ��� has now made it to the competition section of Indische Filmfestival Stuttgart in Germany. In the film, Arpita plays the wife of a zamindar and has a complete deglam look.
Chauranga is about a 14-year-old Dalit boy's infatuation with an older girl. Parts of the movie was shot in Bengal, before the team moved out to Orissa after a dispute with the Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India.Says Onir who has helmed the production of the film with Sanjay Suri, ���I'm very excited to announce this news. Sanjay and I will be present along with director Bikas Ranjan Mishra at the festival on July 18."

The film, which stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, Swatilekha Sengupta, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Ena Saha, Soham Maitra and Riddhi Sen in important roles, is likely to see a September release. Onir, who has returned to Mumbai, after shooting Veda ��� his adaptation of Hamlet ��� at Shakespeare's birthplace in England, is also busy with the post-production of Shab. The latter marks Arpita's debut in Bollywood.
