Nonetheless, she was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in September 2023 for questioning related to the case.

Adding fuel to the fire was Nusrat's controversial statement in May 2023, ahead of the Panchayat polls. She declared that anyone from the BJP or Congress seeking votes in Basirhat would be "beaten with bamboo." “Be it the BJP or the Congress, whoever comes in the Panchayat elections to seek votes, will be beaten with bamboo by the people of Basirhat," said the actor-turned-politician while addressing a public gathering at her Lok Sabha constituency.
