After Maacher Jhol, a mish-mash of romance, filmmaker Pratim D Gupta is slow-cooking his next film, which is an all-out celebration of love. “A typical love story between a rich, good-looking guy and a beautiful girl next door doesn’t interest me. I have always had these off-kilter romances marinating inside me, involving people who are not usually allowed to fall in love.

This new film is like a festival of such crazy love stories — fun, wild, passionate and moving.”

The film will have a lot of known faces, but right now Pratim is willing to divulge only one pair — his Shaheb Bibi Golaam pair of Ritwick Chakraborty and Parno Mittra. Paoli will be playing the lead in one of the love stories, though the male lead opposite her is yet to be locked. “Five to six different love stories will run parallel throughout the film and in the end, we will see how they are linked,” said the director, who’s yet to decide on other cast members. “Pratim had narrated the idea of this film when we were making Maacher Jhol. This time too he has penned something special for me and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Ritwick.

The film is expected to go on floors in January, with Soumik Halder behind the camera and Anupam Roy as the composer.
This will be Pratim’s third film with Parno. “I know it’s clichéd to say I’ve not done a character like this before, but it’s absolutely true this time. I can’t wait to get started,” she said. Paoli, who is excited about the film said, “The film touches a basic essence of life — love. The way Pratim has conceived the film is brilliant.”
