Why was Kadambari, starring Konkona and Parambrata, put on hold?

From a switch of director and producer to a change in the cast, the project has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. And here���s the next big one ��� the film has allegedly been put in the freezer, thanks to budget constraints. Said a source close to the film, which stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Parambrata Chatterjee,���The shooting of Suman Ghosh���s Kadambari has come to a sudden halt. Though the producer has cited financial problems, the team of Kadambari is trying to cover that up. They���re going around town claiming that Suman���s first assistant director, Abhijit Chowdhury, is not keeping well.��� When CT got in touch the producer Rakesh Singh, he said, ���Twenty five per cent of the shoot is over. We are left with nine days of shoot, which we plan to finish in end-December. The film should be ready for release by April next year. It is not true that the film has been stalled due to a financial crunch.��� There were date issues as Suman had to go abroad and Parambrata had prior commitments,��� added the producer. So, what about the buzz that the film is on hold because Abhijit was not keeping well? ���Abhijit was hospitalized for a day as he was not well,��� informed Rakesh. Abhijit, on his part, said, ���Can a film���s shoot stop because a crew member is unwell? This is a high-profile film with two popular actors in the lead. I am not the DoP and my absence cannot make a huge difference,��� Are the reasons purely financial, in that case? ���Suman can answer that one,��� he quipped. We���ve also heard that Locket Chatterjee, who was supposed to play Kadambari, got the producer introduced to Suman. But she was not even informed when she was dropped. ���Yes, Locket got me introduced to Suman. As a producer, I never interfere in a film���s casting and leave it entirely to the director. So, it was Suman���s call, not mine,��� said Rakesh. Locket believes in letting bygones be bygones. ���I got Suman introduced to Rakesh, but was not even told that I was not part of the film ��� after I was supposed to play the lead,��� said the actress. Suman refused to talk on the film and only sent us a text saying he was down with fever and would not speak.
