Famous Bhojpuri actors who worked outside the Bhojpuri industry

Over the years, Bhojpuri industry has seen tremendous growth and popularity worldwide. There are many actors who have created a benchmark outside Bhojpuri industry too. There are some famous Bhojpuri actors who have also worked in regional films such as Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Punjabi apart from Bollywood. Here's taking a look at few such Bhojpuri stars:

Ravi Kishan, who is popularly known in Bhojpuri industry, has worked in many regional films as well, apart from Bollywood. He was part of one the highest grossing Telugu films, ‘Race Gurram’ in 2014. The film features popular actor Allu Arjun and Shruti Haasan in the lead role. This film marked Allu and Shruti’s first collaboration. In the film, Ravi played the role of heavy industries minister Maddali Shiva Reddy, who was a big rowdy before becoming a minister. The movie was rated fifth highest grossing Telugu film of all time. It was released in 1110 theatres worldwide and it collected Rs 102 crore.

Antara Biswas is better known by her stage name Monalisa. She has done over 125 Bhojpuri films, and also worked in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. In 2006, Monalisa made her appearance in Kannada movie ‘Jackpot’ as Laila. It’s a romantic drama film directed by Niranjan featuring Dhyan, Harsha and Shubha Poonja in the lead roles. Along with 'Jackpot', she also made a special appearance in another Kannada movie, ‘Encounter Dayanayak’ in 2008.

Vinay Anand has featured in around 60 Hindi and Bhojpuri movies and is popularly known for his role in the Bollywood movie ‘Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa’. The comedy film, directed by K.Raghavendra Rao starred Govinda, Juhi Chawla, Johnny Lever and Tabu in pivotal roles. It was the remake of the Tamil film ‘Viralukketha Veekkam’ and scored as an average grosser at the box office.

Mumbai based actress, Pakhi Hegde, is mainly active in Bhojpuri cinema but has also done a Marathi film. She played the female protagonist in the Marathi film ‘Sat Na Gat’ alongside well-known actors Sayaji Shinde and Mahesh Manjrekar. The movie was based on a 1992 novel by Rajan Khan. Pakhi has also worked with Bollywood's superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Ganga Devi’. She started her acting career with a lead role in a daily soap on Doordarshan. She has also done a Tulu film, 'Bangarda Kural'.

Shubhi Sharma is known for her role in ‘Chalni Ke Chaalal Dulha’ opposite Dinesh Lal Yadav, for which she received the award for the Best Female Debut of the year at the 5th Bhojpuri film awards. The actress sizzled in an item alongside John Abraham in the Bollywood movie ‘Welcome Back’. ‘Welcome Back’ is an action-comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee. It is a sequel to 'Welcome' and features John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Shruti Haasan, Paresh Rawal, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah. Made on a big budget, the film was largely shot in and around Panipat and United Arab Emirates.

Rani Chatterjee is popularly known for her Bhojpuri movies like 'Sasural Bada Pasiawala', 'Sita', 'Devra Bada Satawela' and 'Rani No. 786'. Recently, she made her Punjabi debut in the movie ‘Aasra’ alongside popular actors Guggu Gill and Tinu Verma. Rani started her acting career in 2003 with Manoj Tiwari’s Bhojpuri film ‘Sasural Bada Paisawala’. The film was a success and won several awards. She also received the Best Actress of the year award for her performance in 'Nagin'.
