Coldplay India tour 2025: Fans share disappointment after failing to get tickets despite announcement of an extra show
In a landmark moment for 'Coldplay' fans in India, tickets for the band’s 2025 India tour sold out within hours of going live today (September 22). The British rock band, famous for hits like 'Let Somebody Go,' had originally scheduled two performances in Mumbai as part of their 'Music Of The Spheres World Tour', set for January 18 and 19, 2025. However, overwhelming demand led to the announcement of a third show, slated for noon on January 21, 2025.
Despite the addition of a third show, tickets were snapped up almost instantly, leaving a large number of fans extremely disheartened. The ticketing website faced technical difficulties, crashing shortly after sales began. Many fans found themselves stuck at the payment stage, while others couldn’t make it past the virtual queue. Social media was soon flooded with posts from frustrated fans, voicing their disappointment over missing out on the coveted tickets.
One fan wrote, “I have just been crying. All those people hoarding the tickets just to resell them for more money. Bhagwan maaf nahi karega (crying emojis).” Another commented, “Let’s apply for the post of a security guard at DY Patil Stadium. I guess that’s the only hope left now.”
Finally, one reacted with a funny note, "By the time you're off that waitlist, they'll be playing 'Clocks' to remind us what year it is!"
According to a report in Pinkvilla, the temporary system crashed and a queueing system was put in place to manage the high demand and quickly resolve issues caused by suspicious traffic. Although this led to a brief delay, the measures ensured minimal disruption for legitimate fans attempting to purchase tickets.
Coldplay's concert is set to take place at Mumbai’s DY Patil Sports Stadium, with tickets priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 12,500, while lounge access will cost Rs 35,000. This 2025 tour marks the band's first performance in India since their last visit in 2016.
