The actress reflected and said people didn’t understand how it was possible for two women to be friends, and not lovers. Erivo went on to admit that there is a "strange fascination" with her and Grande's relationship. She believes the relationship was misinterpreted because “female friendships were underrepresented in the media.”

In an interview with The Stylist, published on February 10, Cynthia Eviro said, “At first, I think people didn’t understand how it was possible for two women to be friends, close, and not lovers.” She also said that people thought that they were putting on an act for the camera or they were lovers. “I’ve never really spoken about this, but there was this strange fascination with the two of us, where people either thought we were putting it on for the cameras or that we were lovers,” said the 39-year-old actress.

The ‘Wicked’ star thinks, “there’s such little conversation around platonic female friendship that is deep and real, even though it exists everywhere.” Continuing we’re not used to seeing such friendship on camera, Cynthia continued, “We’re not used to seeing it on camera, in front of people.
